Of Interest 2.3: Mary Warner Marien on Eadweard Muybridge changing the sequence of his images
Mary Warner Marien, writing in her book Photography: A Cultural History (2nd edition): "[Eadweard] Muybridge often fabricated his final composite pictures, assembling images that play upon the willingness of the eye and mind to see photographs arranged from left to right as having been taken in that order. About 40 per cent of Muybridge's photographs of movement are composed of images that were not taken successively, as he had claimed."
