fototazo has asked a group of 50 curators, gallery owners, blog writers, photographers, academics and others actively engaged with Latin American photography to pick two early career photographers whose work deserves recognition.
This project aims to highlight great work being made in the region today and also to provide a starting point in both English and Spanish for exploring contemporary Latin American photography. LatAm f100 is a collaboration between fototazo and the photographer and educator
Jaime Permuth.

fototazo ha invitado a un grupo de 50 curadores, galeristas, escritores, fotógrafos, y académicos - entre otros individuos seriamente comprometidos con la fotografía latinoamericana - a escoger cada quién dos fotógrafos emergentes cuya obra sea merecedora de mayor reconocimiento.
Este proyecto es una manera de celebrar el gran trabajo que se lleva a cabo en la región. Asimismo, busca proporcionar un punto de partida bilingüe en inglés y en español a las audiencias que deseen explorar la fotografía contemporánea en Latinoamérica. LatAm f100 es una colaboración entre fototazo y el fotógrafo y educador Jaime Permuth.

Isadora Romero is an Ecuadorian photographer who lives in Quito. In Isadora's photographs I am interested in the fact that I am never sure if what I am seeing really happened or was a construction. They are images that question reality itself. Her look is incisive and original and her stories are always told in a horizontal way and without prejudice.
Isadora Romero, fotógrafa ecuatoriana que vive en Quito. De la fotografía de Isadora me interesa que nunca estoy seguro si lo que estoy viendo pasó realmente o fue una construcción. Son imágenes que cuestionan la propia realidad. Su mirada es incisiva y original y sus historias son siempre relatadas de una forma horizontal y sin prejuicios.

Misha Vallejo. Ecuador, 1985. He is a photographer who travels the border between documentary and artistic photography. He holds a Master of Arts in Documentary Photography from the University of the Arts in London. His first photobook,
Al otro lado (Editora Madalena, 2016), was selected as one of the best author books at the Rencontres de la Photographie festival in Arles, France, received an honorable mention in the Felifa-Fola Prize (Argentina, 2016) and was chosen best photobook of Brazil (2016), among other important recognitions. He is also co-author of the book
Siete punto Ocho (RM, 2018) that was part of the official selection of Athens Photo Fest 2018. He has exhibited collectively and individually in Latin America, Europe and Asia and has taught photography workshops in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Russia. Among his most recent recognitions are the Photo Europe Network Award of the Photon festival in Valencia (Spain, 2018), Fotoperiodismo Por La Paz (Ecuador, 2017), and the National Award of the Arts of Ecuador (2015); he was a finalist in the Langue-Taylor Prize of Duke University (2017) and the Sony World Photography Awards (2015), among others. In addition, he has curated several photography shows in Ecuador.
Misha Vallejo. Ecuador, 1985 Es un fotógrafo que transita la frontera entre la fotografía documental y artística. Magíster en Artes en Fotografía Documental por la Universidad de las Artes de Londres. Su primer fotolibro, Al otro lado (Editora Madalena, 2016), fue seleccionado como uno de los mejores libros de autor por el festival Rencontres de la Photographie de Arles, Francia, obtuvo una mención de honor en el Premio Felifa-Fola (Argentina, 2016), fue elegido mejor libro de fotografía de Brasil (2016), entre otros importantes reconocimientos. Asimismo es coautor del libro Siete punto Ocho (RM, 2018) que fue parte de la selección oficial del Athens Photo Fest 2018. Ha expuesto colectiva e individualmente en Latinoamérica, Europa y Asia y ha impartido talleres de fotografía en México, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador y Rusia. Entre sus reconocimientos más recientes está el Premio Photo Europe Network del festival Photon de Valencia (España, 2018), Fotoperiodismo Por La Paz (Ecuador, 2017), el Premio Nacional de las Artes de Ecuador (2015), fue finalista en el Langue-Taylor Prize de la universidad de Duke (2017), en el Sony World Photography Awards (2015), entre otros.
